Half-sky auroras

7.10.2015 at 21.20 - 21.40 - Turku (IV)
Mikko Peussa, Ursa (Länsi-Suomi)

Northern lights from Turku on the Ruissalo bridge and a nearby field. A little later, the play grew further and even Korona was handsomely visible at these latitudes. Great play and adjusts it but still favors the enthusiast :) Did I mark the horizontal overlapping stripes in the triple and quadrangle in unrecognized shapes? EDIT: Figure 1 shows the lens reflection in the upper right caused by bright artificial light (light pollution) on the surface of an 8 millimeter lens. The "horizontal stripes" of the mystery forms, on the other hand, appear in Figures 3 and 4. #epraitoja

I was still going to take out the trash when I noticed the northern lights in the northern sky. Well, nothing else when the Camera Backpack is picked up and the bow of Skoda towards the already familiar dark place on the Lapua Lower River. It was in it and in that the arc did not rise so high in the end that there would have been the northern lights of half the sky. Koron also went dim for a short time, igniting my upper pole. Shortly before ten, the arch and other shapes set out to retreat further north, and I set out to retreat toward home. Quite a normal show in itself for these latitudes, ...

The whole sky is full of northern lights. At first it was bright on the north side and dim on the south, but during the evening the situation was constantly and occasionally brightened properly on the south side as well. The corona was also seen from time to time and varied in appearance. The first image and the four show a horizontal stripe on the left side, which at night I thought was the achievement of the clouds. The triangular image, on the right, shows the twists and turns of the submarines of the aircraft warfare fighters, which did not seem to disintegrate quickly at all. #epraitoja

Now all to describe the proton arc. Here you can see from the zenith south across the sky. EDIT. I added pictures. That proton arc was so dim that it was not visible to the naked eye at all. I guess I could first notice it from the Sirius sky camera in Jyväskylä and by photographing it came to the fore. Stripes were also visible, (Figures 3 and 4) they were dim now too. The bright satellite came in three images that stacked together in Halostack (Figure 2), I suddenly didn’t find that in Iridium, at least. #epraitoja

Here is the wordless! Sissos why northern lights! The corona was spun above the head by eukos from ALE skirt fabric on Stokka's crazy days! Good you didn't get along with the camera. I tossed right, left, sideways and up. Around. Here and there. Exactly where I gave the call so there was stuff left in the box. Even in the south there were fires ... At eleven the weather began to "muffle" and the reposet blurled. The stuff was in total ice so home with good cheer — so REALLY happy! A roaring brown eagle as well as magical badgers seem to follow the firing. The fog shone with his absence...

Uh ... Well now. The strangest northern lights of my life. No sense. These were weird. Throughout the whole, the oval was not quite oval. It bulged, rattled, fluttered and fluttered. Up-down, up..side, left, right .. But as this bulge begins, your eyes will roll away from your head. The trip didn’t start quite as happily as I had thought. I went into the terrain with a gloomy mind — my mother had passed away last night. I had to get out to figure out the thoughts. As soon as I reached the edge of the field, the north clearly turned green. There was too much car traffic on the field road — so s...

Huh reflects. The whole day went by eating claws and in a group of northern firefighters with a group speculating whether it would last until evening. The evening arrived. At 19:30 I saw the first, reddish rays. Soon they raged right on top of the last one when I asked the girls to watch. They were really excited about the flickering lights. Did the Frozen movie come to mind ... I shot a few screens in the backyard. I was a little annoyed because the pictures showed clouds at first glance. However, they were not yellowish but green. Northern lights? The tracks faded and disappeared pretty quic...

A rare treat in Helsinki! I arrived at the observation site next to Sörnäinen Prison and on the horizon there was a calm northern lights belt and almost in the zenith a diffuse gauze that spread over the whole sky (second image). At 9:24 p.m., the gauze on my head "exploded" into bright and very vibrant northern lights (image one). I have never experienced a sudden eruption like that before. After this, dancing arches appeared in the northern hemisphere that gradually faded. A really awesome play that started early. #epraitoja

The previous two nights were quite late. So the resilience of the tournament started to be put to the test. That’s why I couldn’t stand the horrors terribly, even though the first northern lights were visible as soon as the sky was darkened enough. I finished my homework at home and only set off in eight countries. At the observation site, I was pleased to notice that the Hornets ’abductions I had previously observed in the sky were still in the sky. Under the stars, it had to be set off again when the northern lights predictions also showed reasonable readings. At first, little wonder was visible in the sky until I put the camera towards the familiar and safe orbit. The camera took a picture, NAPS .. I put the picture on the camera screen and there was some red arc & line on the Milky Way in the picture. I wondered what this is now. I took a few more pictures and found that the dim red arch goes across the whole sky, turning slightly to the south sky. With my own eyes, I didn’t distinguish this but the camera found it there. Comfortably, after the hand surgery, I was able to continue through after a small negotiation. That is: stay near the home yard, do not drive. Sturdy package but gauze in hand and go. Luckily our living is reasonably well located so last night’s observation was pretty nice. First a mere gauze fell, then an arc that just stretched and stretched higher. Then quick flares and calming down. I noticed a strange "dune pattern" in the fire, which was also in the 7.10 northern lights pictures. Suddenly I noticed a movement in the corner of my eye above my head, the first thought was that the urn's...

About a week ago, there were predictions that northern lights would be available over the weekend. In the morning the values looked really good and the evening program was clear, especially when the weather forecast looked bright. I would go outside at half past nine countries. I grabbed a picture from the sky and there was an arc. On the south sky side! I photographed it and noticed a point among the red. Sar arc. First to yourself. Soon the arc across the sky began to brighten and throb. A wavy pattern appeared on its eastern edge, similar to October 7, 2015. I called the family out and rang...

Curls in red, sky heavily in the cloud ... It didn't help but to go to a nearby park for a passport and hope for the clouds to disappear. When I arrived at the scene, the situation seemed rather inconsolable. To the north was only a small opening from which warped the green (Fig. 1, 20.58). After waiting a moment, I noticed that the stars were starting to appear and soon the clouds had mostly left the place. Good luck! Wide gauze-like arches crossed the sky and a sharper belt began to meander in the north (Figures 2 and 3, c. 21.30). There was little difficulty in deciding which direction ...

For a long time northern lights. The warnings were on, but I have missed any visible revos many times. Now, however, managed to turn. The play was by no means bright or colorful, but scope was found. At its best, the southernmost northern lights were visible at 40 degrees from the southern horizon. The revos were divided into two parts. There was an arch visible low in the north, with little rays at its brightest point, and the arc was turning into a belt. The repo area of the second was in the zenith and a partial arch visible to its south, later it appeared as spots. The play kept brightenin...

The first images taken at 6 p.m., then showed calm northern lights and a diffuse arc to their north. From there, the show spread a little further south and further south, being at about 8 pm already south of the zenith a long way. At its brightest, the colors were clearly visible, but most of the time the color of the repos was barely visible. Light pollution and frost are probably also the culprits. #epraitoja EDIT: More pictures .

It was known that there was an apostasy tonight. "Stuff in a bag and an arch in a dark field" was the plan for the evening. But it’s not easy to find dark fields around the metropolitan area! I drove nervously along the meadows of Lake Nurmijärvi, looking for a place away from the eaves of street lights. In the north, a green and active northern lights belt waved. I finally got to the side of the road a little further away from the lights. The dog in the nearby house was equipped with all the features of a modern alarm system. It roared. It screamed more. I noticed in irc the mention that northern lights might be coming and I decided to go after a while to check the situation, packed the shooting equipment and marched to the seashore. Along the way, a little life in the sky was already visible to the naked eye, and the situation with access to the shore was obvious; no massive spectacle with the naked eye, but the repo was clearly in the sky so I tuned the camera to the shooting capability and took the next twenty minutes at a regular irregular pace to take pictures as the situation went on. There was a storm in store and it came. I glanced at the Hankasalmi camera and then there was a rush. The sports field was fully lit yet at 21:35. Had to run to jog in a darker place. The absolutely insanely wonderful northern lights show started quite early in the evening. I went out and stated that this has to be photographed in Samyang when they were already so high. There were northern lights everywhere in the southern sky as well. They also showed streaks and an SAR arc. The pictures also show purple quite high, would it be possible that the proton arc was involved in this play? The whole evening started with glasses. Or rather that they were not found. For the northern lights bongar, this was simply great news: without the glasses, there was no going south, but we would have to spend another night further north in Rautalammi. Oh, sorry. It took a second to recover from this grief and then we were already circling with excitement with Sari Huka in buzz. The day before, we had visited a potential observation site at the top of Kilpimäki and now we decided to try out how it would work when the actual site came. During my work, I had impatiently followed the northern lights and died after a light show that would be comparable to what I saw on March 17, 2015. When the weather forecasts still seemed good and the Tähtikallio camera already showed half the sky green in the early stages of the dusk, I didn't make any time but went to the nearby field with the shooting verms. Dull but clear arch Edit. Inspired by a good prognosis and other epic observations, I certainly left early enough. The sky was unusually clear. First, a dim arc stood out very poorly on the back of the camera and also visually. What was special was that the Nurmijärvi magnetometer drew an almost straight line at that point. There was a slight variation in the shape of the arc. While waiting for the show to heal, a cloud ferry crawling from the northwest covered the show. The greenery of the last picture is so weak that it would no longer have been possible to make canola. I also photographed i...

I was supposed to shoot one ds subject and I set up the equipment in the evening, then when it got dark I went out to put the description on, I noticed the northern lights. Well ds the description for a moment aside and retrieve the camera and tripod in order to capture the play. After watching the events of heaven in my time, I found that I had to forget the original ds object that would have been low in the north and pick some object closer to the zenith from the hip, which I finally got to photograph for a few hours. It didn’t bother me that the northern lights came to bully the original pr...

Half-sky auroras

7.10.2018 at 20.12 - 23.13 - Laitila (IV)
Pirjo Koski, Tampereen Ursa

During the day, I went to check out the new location more closely. Looked very good. There was practically no smell of light in the dark, so I set off a little early, with a small charge. The place turned out to be a great choice at the beginning, there is very little wasted light on that location. There was fog, but the heating pads in the obiska kept the lens open well. I barely had time to start wondering when a really handsome, high arch was revealed from the sky that was already starting to look like it was about to leave. I decided to go even deeper into the field. As I walked there, the...

Quiet aurora arc

Peter von Bagh, Ursa (Helsinki)

At first, a rather strange northern lights play. In the rather bright sky of Porvoo, cloud-like northern lights were visible, gray-white northern lights with a permanent red arc in the viewfinder of the camera. It was not noticed with the naked eye. Finally, I went to a darker place, so I imagined, and got to watch the northern lights compete with the highway light. #epraitoja

Anssi Mäntylä

A great play was expected and one was obtained! At the beginning of the evening, we went to the bird tower of the Siilinjärvi mine sludge pool to photograph it. At first, we noticed a SAR arc, from which I unfortunately did not get a very strange picture. Also, special horizontal waves were seen, which in the second picture. Where does such a form come from? After that, we moved to the Patalahti wetland in Maaninga, with the aim of seeking a better framework for photography. At first, the arc of northern lights was calm, but soon got excited about the new magnificent performance, the first ima...

Following the predictions, I also set off. The first show was underway when I arrived in nine countries. So quickly make adjustments to the condition and the camera to shoot. More was promised but unfortunately there was too little clothing on and half past eleven had to be handed over. #epraitoja

Jesse Kyytinen, Ursa (Länsi-Suomi)

Really hard class northern lights show. At the time of the first brightening, there was already a Lapland feeling when the belt was so big and close. I can no longer burn so hard after a night after visiting Lapland a couple of days later. In any case, the best show at the height of Central Finland ever. The lights began to appear as soon as it became cloudy and as the night progressed the cannon just continued and continued without fading. What was striking were the spots that pulsated on the SAR at several points after nine during the first show. Horizontal stripes also appeared in green sha...

The sky became clearer in Inari 1.3. in the evening and the repos showed up handsomely along Sevettijärventie. The night before went wrong because of the clouds. The road to Norway was beautiful in the light of the northern lights. #epraitoja

Half-sky auroras

7.10.2015 at 19.41 - 22.00 - Raasepori (IV)
Jouni Riihelä

A dune night in the middle of Salo and Ekenäs, which has already become a legend. The first green rays came out at 19.41 in the northwest. As the evening darkened, they appeared gray for the rest of the night (telling of my vision, not the actual color change) The first dim horizontal stripes appeared south of them at 19.57 (Fig. 2, 19.59). Comparing successive images, they seemed to move sideways slowly to the west. The streaks began to thicken and lengthen (Fig. 3, 20.16). Even in the east there were horizontal stripes, were at more irregular intervals. Directly to the north, no striping was...
