Northern Lights: The images of the celestial camera with a long exposure time of 30 seconds showed a "ferry" moving from the north, retaining its shape and structure, through the sky. Incoming direction about 340 degrees. The prevailing wind direction is 230 degrees, according to the Finnish Meteorological Institute. A series of pictures taken 1min. on the stairs. Image time code correct, but 12 h twisted.

In the active northern lights belt, in addition to the bright green color, a little red was also visible at the beginning. The northern lights moved and the belt was lively, with high rays at times. Stunningly beautiful, even if only with your own eyes and a cell phone camera.

I was aware of the possibility of seeing the northern lights to the south, and I happily visited the yard just as the northern lights belt appeared. It crawled like a large green snake, pink and yellow stood out at the edges, and this active phase lasted for ten minutes. I shot the whole show by hand because I didn’t have time to get a tripod inside, and I had the feeling that I wouldn’t see such a great northern lights tonight. They were also well visible to the naked eye.

I went to the regular place to see if the northern lights would be visible and they were visible. Mainly a dim arc was visible, but rays also flashed from time to time.

Active aurora band

Eemil Pietilä, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

I missed the northern lights the night before, so I decided to put the gopro on duty the next night. Well, it was worth it. When I checked the camera from time to time, I also saw the first northern lights of my life with the naked eye. After the video, there are a couple of pictures of what I think are the best parts of the video.

All-sky aurora

Tuikku Asikainen, Porin Karhunvartijat

There was a family in the village and I was wondering if I could go on a northern hunt for a while, when the activity values were quite high. Dinner had stretched over half the night and there were clouds, but we decided to go hopefully to the beach to see if anything could be seen from the cloud. My son-in-law and a couple of the grandchildren went along and we got a ride. The diverse northern lights of the whole sky, the big arcs across the sky, the rays and all sorts of weird shapes and then just as we were packing the camera, the colors came in the morning. The month didn’t bother me much ...

Half-sky auroras

15.1.2022 at 01.22 - 01.30 - Kuopio, Karttula (IV)

Very patterned large northern lights. The view began from the north, and the northern lights front "slid" as if toward the south. A moving curtain, but also covering the entire sky. An unusually large and bright Northern Lights play.

I went outside with the dog when I was wondering about the thick, light line over the sky. At first I wondered how the line of the plane would look so wide at night. In my space, I checked the pages that the observation points of the whole of Finland glowed red. Then I was sure to see great, wide-ranging northern lights here for the first time here (I lived abroad for a long time)! They were widely visible, but a bright arch shone in the middle. Unfortunately, nothing but a cell phone camera was included. The northern lights faded and disappeared at 01.55. Luckily, there was a cloudless sky an...

The third eruption of the evening (measuring Hankasalmi according to the station) was already the Northern Lights storm on my yardstick! Absolutely amazing !! Fortunately, there was a fisheye lens, otherwise would not have known in which direction the image. Here are the best pieces from half an hour, the very beginning missed.
