It was even a great start to the season! Even before midnight, repo rays lit up the blue sky to the east. Since he could not bear to wait for the almost emotional one, he set his start in a very chilling motion. The aurora borealis and the rays were easily visible, especially the rays on the eastern side of the belt were really distinct. To the east, among the normal belt, there was again an emitted, reddish plume. Purple and red could also be seen with the eyes. It's an amazing experience to be filming repos in the middle of grain fields at +17 degrees. It took until half past three until...

The opening of the northern lights season for Bear Camera took place on the night of August 7/8, 2022. During the night, a beautiful aurora borealis was shown at times. The most active phase of the play was around 00:30-01:30. During this time, the aurora borealis rose to its zenith at its best. At the same time, a modest night cloud show was also visible .

From the early evening, the camera screen showed something "extra," as if a greenish ribbon-like hood was above the normal repo arc. It didn’t seem to be cloud fiber, but would seem to be hanging in the immediate vicinity of the repo arc following it. The ribbon-like top was also visible at a quick glance at a few other all-sky cameras, so then, you know, that "unrecognizable" point was ticking .... When you saw it, there was still a fairly bright background sky and there were also lower clouds on the move. When viewed in the images, that section in the sky does not move, but remains in place ...

An energetic evening and very handsome repos. At the beginning there was a rather dune-like arch, the diffuse part of which was left empty in spite of everything, ie no dunes were formed at this stage, although the edge of the arch was already very corrugated. The high pillar on the west side drew attention. It rose as if from a diffuse, emitted fudge that was reddish. (Fig. 21.43) i.e. the second to last. Surprisingly, the pillar remained in place for most of the play. Corona also served, but the moon really bothered me a lot. The northern lights belt was really Rivakka in its moods and the b...

An icy handsome evening that will be remembered for a long time. The task started already in the early evening with an active and bright northern lights belt. Wondering about the ribbon-like red northern lights above the head in the zenith, is it red here but left in the sky or has there been SAR anyway? The most characteristic features of the evening were the high pillars that fell from the active belt into the sky. At the very end, there was even a small disco flash of which is the last picture. Even the repo corona could be admired, which is rare in the south :) The story of the eveninghere...

I had probably dreamed of a spring-winter rafting trip in Utsjoki for a few years now. Now I decided that dreaming is enough and get it done! So I spent five days in the beautiful barren, peace-threatening landscapes of northern Finland and there was no hurry to shoot like active northern lights. In all, out of the five nights, four were the fires of heaven and two were particularly bright fires of the whole sky. On the first active night, the foot of the tripod broke and the sudden (i.e.) freezing of the air in minutes misted the lens. I stuck my foot in for the next night and realized that t...

An incredibly fast-paced night, the repos were already visible from the dim sky in the early evening well before eight o'clock. In the early evening on the west side there was quite a dune-like "protrusion" at the edge of the arch and I waited for them, but they were not heard, not visible. The evening was crowned by a northern lights lit up in the zenith of half of the two countries. At two o'clock at night there was a real disco going on, the repos quite imitating the strobe lights. I doubted the presence of the dunes, but the moon surprised a lot of sight, especially in the early ev...

The most amazing northern lights I've ever seen. The sky exploded at night after about 1am, just as I was going to sleep. Thanks to the bear camera, the show was not interrupted, but I hurried to the nearby field to shoot. Visually you really look like a fire and a great treat in terms of photography, with the camera you were constantly rotating in different directions :)

On the night of March 13/14/2022, a G2-class geomagnetic storm was experienced. The storm at times caused a really spectacular northern lights show, which for good reason can already be described as the best of the season so far. The cameras of the bear camera recorded this play as well. Based on the videos from the bear camera, it can be seen that there were 3 storms during the night, 1st from 7.30pm to 8.30pm, 2nd from 10.40pm to 11pm, 3rd from 00.30am to 3.30pm. The last or third of these was also the most spectacular of the night. At this point, the northern lights belt became active and r...

As expected, the spectacular northern lights show appeared in the sky early in the evening, only at dusk. At its best, the Northern Lights area extended well toward the southern sky over the zenith. An active, radial belt was visible in the northern sky. To the south of the belt was gauze, which in essence resembled the so-called dune shelf. I photographed the gauze for the dunes, but this time the dunes did not appear.

Piipahdin ulos tarkistamaan revontulitilanteen yöllä 11./12.3.2022, havaintohetkellä matalalla pohjoistaivaalla näkyi vaatimaton, himmeä revontulikaari, jossa näkyi vähän säteitä ajoittain. Valosaaste ja kirkas, reilu neljänneskuu korkealla taivaalla haittasivat revontulten näkymistä. Kuvien kontrastia parannettu, jotta vaatimattomat revontulet näkyisivät paremmin.
