With this play, I have had to rub my eyes on several occasions: in the sky, looking at pictures on the camera screen, and even at the computer on several occasions.
The Lowitzs are well developed and bright. They also have weird features: there would seem to be a bit of an extra arc going down.
We have had time to simulate and figure out more here, but it is challenging. We must return to this observation once again in all peace and time.
EDIT: Now add a small observation report as well. : D
A routine glance from the window late at night made the heart beat a little harder than usual: a thin lower cloud had receded and a very bright side moon shone between the tops of the trees! It showed a continuous beautifully glowing horizon ring. Although there were lights inside, the halos stood out through the window beautifully in the sky.
I snatched the closest pieces of clothing over me and rushed out with the camera. Shaking my hands, I got the stand up and exposed the first frame. At this point, my attention was drawn to the continuous, superbly bright arches of Lowitz from the side streets! I rushed inside to get more clothes to wear as the camera illuminated the new screen.
Soon I was joined by Johanna Järventaus, for whom this was the first lunar halo play of her life. No funnier start! The intensity of the play steadily decreased, but its main features were still on display when I started shooting all-sky images.
Ice mist hovered densely above us. I snapped the pictures and wiped the lens between the crystals. Johanna settled on her back for the project and admired the play in total peace. I tried it myself - the horizon ring looked like a dizzying revelation when it was admired from the hoods of Hood, lying on its back.
Eventually, the play completely faded. Indoors, the plastering of images from the camera screen was again a small shock ... such Lowits ... what was still happening was hard to believe.
Due to the urgency, a more in-depth analysis had to wait. Later, as I processed the images, I realized that there is also one “extra” arc in the images. I rubbed my eyes. I looked at the pictures again. That was still it. I sent the pictures to a few people on display, still in a state of deep disbelief. Answers began to drip into the email and after pinching myself a few times, I slowly began to believe that maybe this play wasn’t a dream after all.

Jäätävää settiä taas Jarilta! Halot & Tampere <3
No jo on viiruja sivukuun kaverina... Hieman oudoltahan se tuntuisi, mutta voisiko esim. kovera Schulthess esiintyä ilman muita Schulthesseja? Tämän kuvan mukaan voisi sopia suunnilleen tuohon Kuun korkeuteen ja rengasmaisen Lowin rinnalle.
Itse rastisin kyllä ilman kummempia miettimisiä 120 sivukuut.
Tätä settiä on hieman jo ehditty odotellakin, kun kuvia tullut siellä sun täällä jo aikaisemmin vastaan :-)
Opodissa mainitut "46 asteen Lowitzit" (jotka kai taivaanvahdissa tunnetaan 46 asteen kontaktikaarina / Gallén kaarina?) ovat enemmän rajatapauksen oloiset - 120 saurit (skuut?) sen sijaan sangen selkeät.
No juu, ehkäpä ne 120 saurit sieltä riittävän selkeästi pilkottavat. Lisätään listaan.
Selvä ylimääräinen kaari sivuaringosta alaspäin todella jatkuu. Huh. Simulointi voi olla tosiaan aika vaikeaa.
Onkohan tässä ihan maailmanmitassakin parhaat kuusetit koskaan? Naurattaa kun Wegen paavinhattu on tässä lähinnä ujossa sivuroolissa :D
Tajuntaalaajentavat kuvat kyllä!
Simulointi voi tosiaan osoittautua haasteelliseksi. Jotain pitää keksiä.
Kyllä tämä ainakin omissa havainnoissani menee aikaslailla kärkeen. Vuonna 2009 näimme Marko Riikosen ja Mika Ahon kanssa tosi hienon Kuun näytelmän, mutta eipä siinä tällaisia Lowitzeja ollut. Wegener oli sen sijaan hyvin hienosti kehittynyt.
Laskinkohan jotain väärin, vai miksi sain Kuun korkeudeksi Tampereella 10.2.2017 klo 07.18 noin 3,5 astetta? Tässä elevaatiota on kuitenkin noin 25 astetta.
Oho, kellonaika on jäänyt vääräksi! Oikea aika oli noin 23.52-00.30. Korjaan asian. Kuun elevaatio oli 40-41 astetta.
Noniin, nyt osuu laskelmat kohdilleen :-)
Onnittelut saaliista, todella kiinnostava ja jännittävä tapaus. Saa nähdä miten tuo ylimääräinen kaari saadaan simuloitua.

On ne vaan kummia nämä yksittäiset puun takaa -luokan halot. Niiden simulointiyritykset kun tuppaavat tuottamaan kokonaisia perheitä uusia haloja joista ei kuvissa näy jälkeäkään. Kuinka nyt tämänkin saisi simuloitua ilman muiden kaarten eläintarhaa? Halomaailman mysteerit senkun lisääntyvät.
Upea näytös ja upeat kuvat siitä. Olen aiemminkin maininnut Suomi100-juhlavuoden Taivaanvahtikuvista, tässä niitä taas tarjolla.
Kiitos kaikille kommenteista! Ja totta tosiaan, mysteerit senkuin kasautuvat. Oletettavaa on, että tämäkin vielä ratkeaa... toivotaan, että siihen ei menisi kovin kauaa. Vaan mikäpä sen mukavampaa kuin laulattaa simulaatio-ohjelmaa ja katsoa mitä saa aikaan. :D

Taitavasti ikuistettu Halo-Show. Uusia saureja näyttää löytyvän tämän tästä. Ilmeisesti uudet tarkemmat linssit ja paremmat kennot joissa dynaaminen alue on täysin eri luokkaa kuin ennenwanhaan, mahdollistavat löytämään erinomaisissa näytelmissä uutta pohdittavaa ?
