Binocular comet ATLAS - 25.3.2020 at 20.52 - 25.3.2020 at 22.38 Hyvinkää Observation number 89367

Visibility III / V

Timo Inkinen, Ursa (Etelä-Suomi)

The comet Atlas, filmed on March 25, 2020, had gained more brightness and a little tail in a couple of days. Here it shows 64 x 60s (64 min) front photons with a TMB 152/1200 lens tube and a ZWO ASI 183MM Pro camera. The comet can be seen high in the zenith and after just over an hour my lens tube was already running towards the tripod, so the overall exposure this time was a bit short. On the other hand, image processing with PixInsight's Comet Alignment and PixelMath tools got more practice and this seems to be a better composite image than the previous one on March 22nd. observation from my picture.

Technical information

Shooting 64 x 60s partial exposures, stacked separately by aligning according to the comet, and aligning the same images as a second sub-image by aligning the stars. Finally, I combined those sub-images into one image with the PixelMath tool: Formula: iif ($ T <0.01, integration_stars, integration_comet + $ T)) (+ a lot of experimentation with different values for best results)
