Visibility III / V
Comet C / 2020 F3 (NEOWISE) photographed from the morning of 27.7.2020. This had to be sought for a moment in the sky, when it had already sunk surprisingly down under Otava. I finally went to the neighbor’s yard with my camera to see down enough to the horizon. I used a Vixen 8x50 binoculars to search, with which the comet stood out quite clearly after the sky had darkened enough after 1 p.m.
This image shows a combination of a single image (Olympus 45mm F1.2 and 3.2s / ISO 400) and 70 of those single images stacked in PixInsight. Only a distant hint of the comet's tail became visible in the final stack compared to the long-headed comet depicted from the southernmost night skies. In practice, the comet's tail here in Finland is exposed to the light summer night sky, because this time there were not even night clouds brightening the otherwise clear sky.
